The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of East Garo Hills, Meghalaya, organized a State-Level Workshop on Current Scenario, Challenges, and Solutions for Enhancing Oilseed Production and Productivity in Garo Hills on March 26, 2025.

The event was graced by Shri Albert G. Momin, Additional Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills, as the Chief Guest. The workshop saw the participation of scientists from KVK, officers from various line departments, and representatives from Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) associated with FARM projects.
A key focus of the program was promoting the cultivation of oilseeds such as rapeseed and mustard in rice fallow lands to improve cropping intensity and enhance farmers' incomes. As part of the initiative, 17 farmers from BAKDIL (FARM project), North Garo Hills, received essential inputs for production, including Kharif oilseeds, biofertilizers, and vermicompost tarpaulins.

Farmers were also encouraged to adopt improved seed varieties suited to local conditions and follow proper agronomic practices to maximize yields and ensure sustainable farming in the region.
