Tolegre Sub center starts functioning on April first: under Siju PHC

Tolegre village located at an 8km distance from Siju PHC and approximately 40 km far from District Headquarter Baghmara is one of the most neglected villages in South Garo Hills.

The village falls under the Siju Primary Health Centre, although the sub-center was constructed in the year 2010, it was now functioning due to a lack of manpower and other facilities.

Since 2009 Siju PHC has been managed by the Garo Hills-based NGO BAKDIL under PPP mode with the Government of Meghalaya.

Since the Tolegre village is far from the village and due to no proper road connection, the people could not get come to the PHC during the rainy season and the health workers could not go to the village either. Because of this, the home delivery percentage is high in such areas.

The Tolegre sub-center has been made functional from 1st April 2022 with a total of 2203 population from 6 villages and 388 households.

There is only one ANM at present Ms. Atmilla A Sangma from Siju who has been working in Bakdil run Siju PHC for more than 8 years is now posted at the Tolegre sub-center.

The Tolegre sub-center held witness to the first child delivery on 17th April 2022 and 2nd delivery on 22 April 2022.

The first child was born to a 28-year-old second gravida mother Mrs. Chisimina M Sangma from Tolegre village. The baby weighs 3.4 kg at birth. Both the mother and the child are healthy and had been discharged from the sub-center.

The Siju PHC institutional delivery stands at 70% against the home delivery. The Tolegre sub-center will now increase the overall performance of the PHC.
